Got books you’ve finished with? List them in about a minute and post them to a reader anywhere in Australia.
How it works
Scan the ISBN or type in the title, pick an honest condition grade, and take a few photos of your actual copy. Set your price and postage, and you’re listed. Offer combined postage if you’re happy to send a few books in one parcel.
When someone buys, you post the book to the address on the order within the time on your listing (about 3 business days if you didn’t set one). Tracked postage is a good idea for anything pricey.
You sell directly to the buyer. Taled runs the marketplace, so we’re not the seller of record and we don’t inspect or authenticate books. That’s why honest grades and real photos count.
What it costs
Listing is free. When a book sells, Taled takes a seller fee of 10% of the book price, with a minimum of 50c per order. There’s no fee on postage. The buyer pays postage on top and it all comes to you.
A $12 book costs you $1.20, so you get $10.80 plus postage. A $3 book hits the 50c minimum, so you get $2.50 plus postage. Sell three $5 books to one buyer in one order and the fee is $1.50 on the $15 total.
Before you publish, we show you what you’ll get after the fee. Card processing costs come out of Taled’s fees, so Stripe doesn’t take anything extra from your payout. If a sale is fully refunded, you don’t pay the seller fee.
Buyers pay a separate $1.49 buyer protection fee per order. It doesn’t come out of your money.
If you have to cancel a whole order before posting it, the buyer gets everything back, including their $1.49, and you don’t pay the seller fee. Try not to make a habit of it. Frequent cancellations can limit your account.
Full details are on the Fees page.
Founding sellers
The first 50 sellers who finish setting up payouts with Stripe and publish a listing pay no seller fee for 12 months, counted from the date we confirm founding status by email. See Founding sellers.
Getting paid
Payments go through Stripe. Before your first payout, you’ll set up payouts with Stripe. Stripe verifies your identity and pays into the bank account you connect.
Once you ship the order (or complete the confirm step in the app), your payout is released through Stripe and lands in your bank on Stripe’s payout schedule. You get the book price, less the seller fee, plus the postage the buyer paid. There’s no long hold waiting for the buyer to say they love it.
If we uphold a buyer’s claim because a book didn’t arrive or was significantly not as described, the buyer gets the book price and postage back, and we recover that from your payout or Stripe balance where Stripe allows. That can include a payout you’ve already received. The same goes for a successful chargeback. You won’t pay the seller fee on a fully refunded order. Reply quickly if we ask you for tracking or photos.
The ground rules
•
You need to be 16 or older.
•
Physical books only. No ebooks, PDFs or audio files.
•
Only list books you have on hand, ready to post. No dropshipping.
•
Photograph the actual copy you’ll send and show any defects.
•
Keep chat and payment on Taled. Sending buyers off-platform to dodge fees can get your account restricted.
You’ll accept the Seller Terms the first time you list. After that, it’s standing.
